In your 20’s? It’s GO time!

‘Identity Capital: Do something that adds value to who you are. Do something that’s an investment in who you might want to be’ – take 15 to watch this

It’s been a while since I shared a TED talk.  My incredibly full-of-life friend, Elyse, posted this a few days ago and the headline just captured my interest – 20’s? …YUP  – 30… it isn’t the new twenty?  That has been the saying for years now!

I am convicted by what Meg shares and it resonates with me as a 20-something.  Mostly because I feel like I can see the consequence of my choices unfolding before me already.

I’m tired of always being told that the next decade (30) is the more defining one, i’m tired of being surrounded by people who are not deeply invested in seeking their personal strengths and building on them.

“to achieve a plan, two things are need:  a plan and not quite enough time.” – Leonard Bernstein, well-known American composer

Most applicable, was the part where she spoke about being INTENTIONAL with your love.  Don’t play the musical chairs of love & dating.  I know it sounds a bit conservative and I’m not saying rush into all these things- career, relationship, marriage etc.  I’m saying, do think about it.  BE intentional.  Sometimes we feel we have lots of time, but the reality is that we don’t or perhaps more so all our actions now will pave the path for later.  I have played the game of catch-up before, and hopefully it’s not as harsh in life as it is when you’re drinking.

Don’t do it because it’s cheaper, easier, or faster.  You have control over where you’re going.  A Convicting message for a Pivotal time.

She says: ‘the best time to work on your marriage is before you have one‘ – now THAT, my dears is wisdom right there.

What do you think? Please share some thoughts on what you think about what she’s saying…

How many chill chairs out of 10 would you give it?
